Gather Away was founded out of our love of planning travel for family and friends.

We have collectively more than 30 years in the travel industry guiding, planning and operating travel programs worldwide as well as right here in our backyard, beautiful Jackson Hole!

Paul came to Jackson Hole 25 years ago and never left. With the unparalleled access to wildlife and wilderness, there is no better place for Paul to live and guide in the lower 48. Paul has committed himself to the conservation of our lands through education as one of the preeminent naturalist guides in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. He is also a skilled wildlife photographer and experienced photography guide. For more than 20 years, Paul has accompanied wildlife expeditions throughout the world and seeks out the best wildlife encounters to experience and share with travelers. Paul is the owner operator of Animals Abound, an authorized permittee of the National Park Service.

Julie started her career in travel as a horse trekking guide on the South Island of New Zealand in 2004. Since then she has guided active vacations for leading tour operator, Backroads; planned and operated itineraries for World Wildlife Funds preferred travel partner, Natural Habitat Adventures; and developed custom global study trips worldwide for top universities including New York University, University of Michigan, Stanford University and many more. With travel to more than 65 countries (and counting!), Julie seeks out beautiful landscapes to explore where you can get out and be active before returning home at the end of a rewarding day to a bit of luxury.

Together, Gather Away allows us to share a love of getting out into the wilderness, encountering wildlife, and exploring the beautiful and fascinating places in this world through intentional travel.

Paul and Julie met while working in Manitoba, Canada. Paul was guiding wildlife trips to experience the Polar Bears of Churchill in their natural habitat. Julie was behind the scenes managing the trip logistics. We now call Jackson, Wyoming our home.
